Students for a New American Politics PAC is proud to endorse Representative Carol Shea-Porter of New Hampshire’s 1st congressional district. SNAP will provide two trained young activists who will work as field organizers on her campaign this summer.
Rep. Shea-Porter has a record of fighting for progressive change. Over her seven years in Congress, as a member of the Natural Resources Committee, Rep. Shea-Porter pushed to strengthen the Clean Water and Clean Air Acts, repeal subsidies for big oil, and ardently opposed the Keystone XL Pipeline.
Rep. Shea-Porter has also proven herself to be a strong ally for working and middle-class Americans, supporting a repeal of the Bush tax cuts, and leading the fight to pass the Affordable Care Act, and the creation of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Rep. Shea-Porter served as a member of the Committee on Education and Labor, and has been a strong advocate for women’s rights, committed to protecting access to reproductive health services.
“We are excited about supporting Rep. Shea-Porter in her bid for another term,” said SNAP executive director Mila Rostain. “Our fellows have had invaluable experiences working on Rep. Shea-Porter’s campaign. Rep. Shea-Porter has an impressive record of advocating for working and middle-class individuals, and her dedication to her work will ensure a more fair and equitable system.”
“I am especially pleased to receive the endorsement of Students for a New American Politics. I appreciate their work to engage young people in the electoral process,” said Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter, adding “I look forward to the SNAP Fellows joining our campaign – a campaign that has been truly grassroots from day one. Their involvement is an ideal fit for the style of campaign I run, because I practice campaign finance reform and do not accept any corporate PAC or DC lobbyist money."
