Students for a New American Politics PAC (SNAP PAC) is proud to endorse DuWayne Gregory for New York’s 2nd Congressional seat. SNAP will place two trained fellows - selected from a competitive nationwide pool of applicants - to work as field organizers on Gregory’s campaign this summer.
DuWayne Gregory has devoted his life to serving his country. He enlisted in the United States Army after graduating from college. His time in the Army taught him the importance of determined leadership and cooperation. After leaving the Army, Gregory returned to Long Island and became the Citizens’ Advocate for the Town of Babylon and won a seat in the Suffolk County Legislature. In 2014, he was elected Presiding Officer of the Legislature, making him the first African-American in the county’s history to hold the position. In the legislature, Gregory has tackled important issues, such as investing in innovative, high-tech jobs, helping to lead Hurricane Sandy relief efforts, and passing balanced budgets without raising property taxes.
“Nothing motivates me more than seeing young people engaged in the political process and working to make a difference,” said Gregory. “I’m honored to have the endorsement of SNAP and I look forward to working with them.”
In Congress, DuWayne Gregory will be an advocate for his district and for hard-working Americans. One of his priorities will be to ensure access to quality education. He will fight to reduce college costs so that every child in America can attain their potential. Gregory understands the fundamental role that education has in upward mobility and opportunity. He will work to pass a jumpstart tax credit that will allow college graduates to minimize debt and stabilize their plans for a career. DuWayne Gregory is a proven progressive leader who will continue to do everything he can to bring accountability to Congress and ensure that every American has a fighting chance to improve her or his conditions.
“DuWayne Gregory will work non-stop to increase economic opportunity for his district and his country and stand up for progressive values,” said SNAP PAC executive director Mila Rostain. “We are thrilled to be working with the campaign and are confident that our fellows will have a meaningful organizing experience.”
